Just
found your web site today where you asked to share a band story.
I
remember visiting relatives in Chester
as a young trumpeter musician years ago in 8th grade. My uncle, Harvey Nauss was bandmaster and cornet player of the Chester
Brass Band as was his uncle Pearly Nauss. One day Harvey invited me to join them for a band practice. Well, not only was I
honored but it was also a privilege to carry on the family tradition. Although I was "over my head", the band members
welcomed me with open arms and encouraged me to continue playing my instrument; they even allowed me play an e flat horn
at their next concert. I am now 48 year's old and have played throughout high school and college. During the next
several years, I volunteered to help the local band, orchestra and jazz band at the high schools. My daughters gained
an interest in instrumental music as well.
Thank
you Chester Brass band for blessing one young and inexperienced player to keep playing!
